Xubuntu 24.04.1: Firefox fails to start

This pass isn't /home/jeff/.config!

How do you launch Firefox?

>From command line run the complete path to the binary. It's likely
/usr/bin/firefox [1].

$ /usr/bin/ls -hl /mnt/m1.xubu20.04/usr/bin/firefox 
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 Jun  2  2023 /mnt/m1.xubu20.04/usr/bin/firefox -> ../lib/firefox/firefox.sh

/mnt/m1.xubu20.04/ since I'm running another Linux.
