I have inspected the grub.cfg file by doing this (I cut the long lines down to
be able to show them here:
bosse at ubuntuserv:~$ grep "menuentry " /boot/grub/grub.cfg
menuentry 'Ubuntu' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gn
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.15.0-126-generic' --class ubun
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.15.0-126-generic (recovery mod
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-200-generic' --class ubunt
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-200-generic (recovery mode
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-89-generic' --class ubuntu <= chosen
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-89-generic (recovery mode)
menuentry 'Windows Boot Manager (on /dev/nvme0n1p1)' --class w
menuentry 'Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (20.04) (on /dev/nvme0n1p5)' --c
menuentry 'Ubuntu (on /dev/nvme0n1p5)' --class gnu-linux --cla
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.11.0-38-generic (on /dev/nvme0
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.11.0-38-generic (recovery mode
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.11.0-27-generic (on /dev/nvme0
menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 5.11.0-27-generic (recovery mode
menuentry 'UEFI Firmware Settings' $menuentry_id_option 'uefi-
I don't know how this works but clearly 5.4.0-89 is less than the other kernel
versions, so why is it chosen?
Before last reboot I issued the command sudo update-grub to rebuild grub too....
Must now get some sleep......
