The point I am trying to get at here is that no, you do not get them
as standard, no, they are not the same thing or just as good as a
built in port (e.g. you can't boot off them) and no, IMHO you should
not have to and I would consider any laptop without one less
desirable.

What does $1G mean to you? To me G = giga = 1000 million.
May I suggest you try to be more careful with words and terminology?
It's really important in tech and in Linux. You're replying to a mail
where I pointed out you used the wrong word with a reply that... uses
the wrong word, AFAICS?
I think you meant $1K. 10⁶ or a million times less.
