Well, on my Ubuntu 22.04 test system, emacs was running as a .deb
package.When I did a distro upgrade from 22.04.x to 24.4. emacs stopped
working. I eventually realised that emacs was now a snap. So I removed my
,.deb emacs and installed the snap emacs and it started working again.

On my main system, prior to the 24.04.1 upgrade, I uninstalled the .deb
emacs. Then I did the 24.04.1 distribution upgrade and installed emacs as a
snap. It is working OK at the moment.

Maybe there was a glitch in the early days of migration from Ubuntu 22.04.x
to Ubuntu 24.04.1 that I somehow fell foul of?

HTH,

Ian
