It is advisable to keep notes on this sort of thing, especially if, as
you have found out, when you need to know you can't easily find out
because the system won't boot.

I recommend Obsidian notes, which I find excellent, with Syncthing to
synchronise the notes to your phone or another system so that when one
system dies they are still available on another.
