Perhaps switch to a mirror that you know will always be in the US? There
are a list of mirrors at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archivemirrors
that may be suitable, just search the page for "United States" and you
should find the ones you want. This probably goes without saying, but
pick one that says it is up-to-date.
