apt update wrong county

EVERY entry in my /etc/apt/sources.list
is us.archive.ubuntu.com

WHY - does and "apt update" want to contact the ABOVE address ???

This above address is outside the US - typically then requires special
permission to open firewalls - Its a hassle

WHY is it doing this on 22..04 ??? Why is it not going to us.archive.ubuntu
?

is the a BUG - how do I keep it from going there ?
