That switches virtual consoles. It should work.

Can you open a terminal emulator with Ctrt+Alt+T?

Then maybe you can manually run a window manager, such as `metacity`
or something.

I am currently over 1000 miles from my only current Unity 24.04
machine so I can't test it.
