Recommendations for a newbie who has just acquired a second hand ThinkPad

Hi,

A friend has dipped her toes into Linux, via a second hand lenovo ThinkPad
x230, upon which I installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS x86_64 on.

She asked me for guidance and all I could think of was "keep the laptop
dry". What other newbie recommendations should I make?

I'll be recommending keeping a log book of any significant changes I make
to her system.

Also: she has a car (I don't) - how safe is it to keep her laptop in the
boot of her car in the Summer?
