Can no longer send gmail from Thunderbird

You may need to be more specific as to what/how it “no longer works”. 
Thunderbird has Tools > Developer Tools > Error Console for more insight 
as to what is transpiring.

Sending Gmail messages from Thunderbird still works here as it used to. 
Ubuntu 24.04, Thunderbird 115.12.2.
