Have to disagree, here. Why shouldn't they use whatever format they
like? It's not like they are imposing it on anyone. If you don't like
the date utility, re-write it or modify it and put it out there. People
will use it - or not.

All of this is about dates as they are input by or presented to people
- and US people have as much right as anyone else to have dates input
and presented in the way they are comfortable with or used to.

This is a complete storm in a teacup.
