/var/snap is the place where snapped daemons can write stuff ... 
depending what snaps you have installed, you might actually have a lot
space used there, but you really need to actively use these snaps to
actually fill filesystem space ... 

typical desktop snaps rarely consume so much ... but i.e. if you use
the lxd or docker snaps and have a ton of containers, you can easily
have it use up gigabytes ... normal desktop apps, not so much (they
would write anyway into $HOME/snap since the data they create is
usually user owned)
