Workaround, of sorts.

I booted 24.04 from my Ventoy USB stick and it seems to work flawlessly.

I was planning to replace my boot drive soon with a new SSD - well,
not really new, but it's been sitting around unused for a couple of
years - I'll check to see if it still works.

Then I can install all the SSDs at once and boot a new OS altogether.
