These are both hard drives directly mounted from fstab - I seriously
doubt they have anything to do with this.

I did notice that there's this TONPHA device that shows up when any
USB drive is plugged in. I don't recognize that and I wonder what it
is and how it got there. Rootkit maybe? It did not show up this time
at all - highly suspicious to me...
