I did the reinstall, one app runs, albeit from right click "run with wine 
launcher" but it misses the cmd line switches the other just will not run, I 
will shortly rebuild a 32 profile, but I think I need to do *.desktop files for 
both again

No /home/USERNAME was untouched (AFAICS) I have lost *.desktop for the wine 
apps I use, they were with all the other *.desktop files, not on that box at 
moment but in "/usr/share/applications" IIRC
