I am a bit lost for works. TBH I am amazed you'd try tweaking FS
parameters on your boot drive. That sounds like the express route to a
dead computer, to me!

You did have backups, right? o_O

Because I don't like work either, and I don't much like faffing around
like this, I try to avoid tune2fs at all. So for instance when
installing on USB keys (no, *not* making a live boot medium, I mean
what I wrote) I format as ext2. The hardcore types say "oh but it's
old code, better to use `tune2fs` to disable journalling." That sounds
hard, so: no. Use a non-journalled FS, it's easier.
