It's not solely the update control issue, it's also the size of snaps (I
mentioned my internet connection bandwidth :-)) And the problems and
restrictions of snaps that come up frequently. There was discussion here
just recently about snapped Firefox's inability to open most file:// url's,
something I do frequently (e.g., I have a link on my local home page to
file:///usr/share/doc/.) I can see how snap's and other corproratizations
of Linux make it easier for large companies to have their distributions
work out of the box and take more of the maintenance/security burden off
of end users (a good thing for many) but at a cost of less control for
end users and more difficulty making any changes (a bad thing for some
including me).
Thanks to you and Oliver for the update on 'snap refresh --hold', I'll
keep that in mind for the future.
