two problems with terminator: vi and line spacing/cursor size

I don't think it's anything to be fixed. It's just that the key
sequence generated by left arrow does that.

... or were you expecting the left arrow key to move the cursor left?
Do the other cursor keys do sensible things?  Were you in insert mode
or not?
