Hi,

Running Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS with kernel 5.19.0-35 Feb 17 x86_64, I noticed a
small red symbol in the top right hand of the screen. It complained about
the package system.

So I did:-
$ sudo apt update
Which worked OK. So I did this:-
$sudo apt upgrade
Which downloaded a lot of updates and installed them.

I also ran dmesg and saved it. The end of its output was interesting so I
thought I'd post it here...
[ 3344.966975] update-notifier[3152]: segfault at 0 ip 0000000000000000 sp
00007fffd0aaf6b8 error 14 in update-notifier[5599432cb000+6000]
[ 3344.967002] Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at RIP
0xffffffffffffffd6.

It looks like update-notifier is using a NULL pointer.

HTH,

Ian
