You'll get a warning that it's not so certain that it will work, but
(if you go ahead anyway) it starts a second ssh server on a different
port (if I remember right) so that you have a chance of sorting things
out if the do-release-upgrade stops running for some reason.

I have a headless server that I have upgraded several times with
do-release-upgrade with no problems.
