A question about installations

Hi,

perhaps you should keep in mind that collecting data does not compare
across domains. Btw. most genetic tests that you can do as a normal
consumer are a scam anyway.

The downside of the crime prosecution you mentioned sometimes ensures
that the innocent convicted get released again. IOW this topic is way
more complex than data mining done by FLOSS software.

However, some of the richest males on the planet have gained their lewd
wealth through data abuse and their domain is related to software.

FLOSS should not take away the slight inherent advantage over
proprietary software by also phoning home. In many ways, FLOSS can't
keep up with proprietary software, but it's those little perks that make
FLOSS great nonetheless.

IOW even a window that pops up to ask the user, if a bug report should
be send or not is entirely wrong, let alone collecting data under the
hood. Such "features" don't belong to FLOSS.
It's a very easy topic, which requires no pro/con consideration. The
answer is universal forever. Never do it! Provide bug trackers that
require a user to take action.

Crime prosecution does require pro/con consideration, it's a very
complex a topic, without a perfect universal answer that lasts forever.

Regards,
Ralf
