I had forgotten this. Get the OWL plugin for Tbird. It's commercial but 
cheap, and iot lets you create and open an email account in Tbird which 
talks directly to an Outlook server. I used it for a while when my 
university account was Outlook-only but they still provided IMAP access 
for people using non-MS MUAs. It worked very well, AFAIR. But if your 
provider has closed off IMAP access, then you're out of luck. My 
university forced everyone to use OWA, which sucks little black toads,
