what is needed to interface with iOS or Android "doorbell cameras" on ubuntu?

Are any of these lamps computer controlled?
I guess a general purpose USB or wifi "internet of thiings" package
would be useful for diagnosis, scripting, and reverse engineering.
I bought a DMM ( digital multimeter ) a while ago and it came with
a CD and was designed to work with windoh's. I was tempted to
look at that thing's protocol and here it would be useful
for a kluged temperature monitor among
other things.

What ubuntu or related packages could be used with what 120VAC
control systems like autoated light switches that are not
locked to some other huge ecosystem of closed products?

Thanks.

I bought a 96 LED IR lamp from Amazon and that seems to work well.
