I do not understand why people do not simply, when performing system 
> updates/upgrades, apply the sequence repeatedly previously mentioned
> on 
> the mailing list;

> apt update
> apt full upgrade -y
> apt autoremove
> apt autoclean

It's exactly what I do, except are you missing a hyphen?

Also, I generally use safe-upgrade on my running server. Probably just
psychological but makes me feel happier!
