I found the answer within a few minutes of posting my question.

I bought a Thinkpad carbon X1 to replace my T420 and I didn't want to 
make a mistake. Anyway, I now have Xubuntu alongside Windows 10. I'm 
happy with the new laptop except for the small text size and the 
keyboard is not as good the the T240's keyboard but I suppose I'll get 
used to it. I could change the screen resolution to increase the text 
size. I'll look into that tomorrow.
