Hi,
I can't comment on printing, but when viewing photos with Gwenview and
other viewers it's important to check the configuration. Some viewers
allow to use fast and slow algorithms to scale the photos. The fast
algorithms result in bad quality. Some viewers might provide an option
to chose how to convert between colour spaces. Some viewers don't
provide such options. Those might scale photos fast and by bad quality
only.
Btw. I'm on a rolling release and opened some of the latest versions of
the programs mentioned by this thread. Several apps I used myself are
rendered useless or at least became complicated by their latest
versions. I might miss something, but I can't see the desired printing
option provided by Gwenview 23.04.0.
I don't know what changes to what app happened at what time on my Arch
Linux install, since the package management logs only provide the
versions and no changelogs:
$ grep gwenview /var/log/pacman.log | tail -1
[2023-04-22T02:42:45+0200] [ALPM] upgraded gwenview (22.12.3-1 -> 23.04.0-1)
Ubuntu provides gwenview from version 17.12.3 up to 22.12.3, see
