VNC into 22.04

hi - in my office I can remote into 22.04 from my laptop. No problem.

I come home - use openvpn - to connect to the office.
I then use the same laptop - and connect to the same ubuntu server.
It connects and I get a password prompt. I enter the correct password - and
then nothing.
No screen pops up and it eventually times out.

How do I get that working ?
