No. I use the default installation of Firefox. This has nothing to do
with Firefox in my case. The source of my wslu trouble is a file
called gimp-help-en that activated some sort of ongoing package
management ever since the moment when I foolishly dared to click on
the "Help" menu in GIMP. It's been trying every single day since then
to get me to install wslu again and I repeatedly ignore the request
and close the notification without complying with its wish. I believe
the attempts are being done by QApt, but would have to verify that
when it nags me the next time. Needless to say, I don't try to get
help from GIMP any longer and just sort of bungle my way around in it
instead or go online for help from other users if things get too
complicated.

Firefox isn't connected with this for me and hasn't attempted to
install anything, thank goodness. I've got the horrible default Snap
version of Firefox, which causes its own issues in Kubuntu that I
deal with on a regular basis, but nothing to do with the issue we're
talking about here.

I'm also not having any www-browser issues. Is this output of any use?

$ update-alternatives --display x-www-browser
update-alternatives: error: no alternatives for x-www-browser

Well, since wslu totally destroys the shortcuts on my panel and my
ability to run programs on the command line, it's not going to get
the opportunity to do anything at all on my system. It's not welcome
here.
