OT: HP drivers

Is it recommended to use HPLIP on Xubuntu 22.04 in place of the
provided driver support?

My Officejet scanner is working moderately well but it has some really
wonky problems.

I haven't installed any of the HPLIP drivers yet, though I used to use
them with reasonable success before I upgraded my machine hardware and
needed to use X31.10 until I could upgrade to 22.04.

Is this recommended or is there a better alternative?
