Welcome back to the list, Maurice, and welcome back to Linux. I would
imagine that the only limit caused by your use of Parallels will be
in the virtualized hardware the operating system believes it's
running on, but that's true for any virtual machine.

There was a known issue reported in October of last year with Firefox
being inaccessible when using Orca and it turned out that it was a
Snap issue. It affected Firefox because it now comes inside of a Snap
container in Ubuntu.

The issue was fixed in version 2.55 of Snap. Ubuntu Focal Fossa
shipped with version 2.44 and is now using version 2.55. Jammy
Jellyfish shipped with version 2.55 and is now using version 2.56. To
find out which version of Snap you're using, you can type snap
version in a terminal window.

Braille TTY doesn't seem to be installed in Ubuntu by default, but the
BRLTTY package is in the Ubuntu repositories and there are a few other
related packages there as well.

For gaining access to desktop icons in Gnome, you can try pressing
Alt + K and then using the arrow keys to navigate from one to the
next. Once you've gotten to the one you want to launch, you can press
the Enter key. It's not listed as a known shortcut on the following
Keyboard Shortcuts page, but it works for me in Kubuntu, so here's
hoping it will work for you in Ubuntu:
