then, I restarted firefox, and now all my settings are lost. No
extensions, no customized toolbar, history, no nothing.
Right now, my $HOME/.mozilla folder contains this:
this is not your current mozilla folder, just the one that firefox
imported its old settings from ... the actual firefox data lives
nowadays in:
~/snap/firefox/common/
Hi Oli and... really?
I'd never have imagined this. Does this mean that firefox only exists as snap package in Ubuntu now?
If so, that's terrible news. For me, at least, I hate snap with a passion. But that is a problem for another day.
Right now, my ~/snap/firefox folder looks like this:
#> ls -la snap/firefox/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 4 marco marco 4096 ott 31 11:16 .
drwx------ 3 marco marco 4096 ott 31 11:16 ..
drwxr-xr-x 4 marco marco 4096 ott 31 11:16 1635
drwxr-xr-x 4 marco marco 4096 ott 31 11:16 common
lrwxrwxrwx 1 marco marco 4 ott 31 11:16 current -> 1635
is this normal? And how would I proceed now? Alternative questions:
1) the hell with snap, how do I restore my firefox to what it was right after my first login into Ubuntu 22.04, when it HAD loaded correctly all the customizations, extensions, history etc... from my previous Ubuntu installation?
2) how do I prevent whatever went wrong today from happening again?
TIA,
Marco
