Hello, Ralf.

On two of my computers, I have installed Linux Mint 21, which you might
consider trying, as an alternative to Ubuntu.

It seems to run okay, and, I am looking to replace my i7 laptop, which
failed in a recent electricity grid failure (the computer will now, not
reboot - I think that the power supply within the computer (as opposed
to the A/C adaptor, was destroyed. It is an Acer V3-772G, that is not,
about eight years old, so, I doubt that I will be able to get it
repaired. It has 32GB RAM, and, nVIDIA Optimus, and, if I replace it
with a new system, with an i7 CPU, and 32GB RAM, and, equivalent
graphics, I am looking at installing Linux Mint 21, on the replacement,
also.

If you are considering a BSD to replace Ubuntu, have you considered
dragonflyBSD, or Ghost BSD or Midnight BSD? From what I understand,
dragonflyBSD is the most advanced, with its own file system, and it has
a mailing list, but, no support (and, published contempt) for nVIDIA
graphics. I have the other two BSD's on my Ventoy drive, to try
sometime, and, may try them on the replacement laptop, if I get it. I
think that MidnightBSD and Ghost BSD are supposed to be developed for
running as desktop systems, from memory.

One significant reason for me choosing Linux Mint, is that it apparently
does not use snap, and, it is significantly, less bloated than Ubuntu.

However, I am having difficulty in trying to find the theme that I want
to run on it (Ubuntu themes are supposed to be compatible); the theme
that I am seeking, to run on it, is named TraditionalOk, and, I have
also seen it named TraditionalOkBrave, and, on Ubuntu Mate, it was
apparently, also named Yaru<colour>. But, I cannot find a current
instantiation of the theme, to download, with any of these names.
