how to stop screen lock

There might be something in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf or generally in /etc/gdm3/.

The only option *I* know works is to completely disable the GUI login.

(I always disable the GUI login on all of *my* Linux machines -- the GUI login 
is *evil* and best avoided where possible.)
