Not off-topic anymore ;).
Since not only the BIOS settings matter, but also the BIOS release, you
already could do a preview by running
$ sudo dmidecode --type bios

Liam? A valued list subscriber, but IIRC he never expressed an opinion
related to BIOS updates.
Joking apart, Liam tends to state to upgrade the BIOS first. The
computer is burning, first upgrade the BIOS, second blow out the fire.
I tend to recommend to update the BIOS, only if something that can't be
solved otherwise is mentioned by the release notes of a newer BIOS

release notes of a newer BIOS version mentions fire protection,
auto-fire-blow-out or something related, then upgrade the BIOS, if not,
don't.
