Type "about:config" in the addressbar; click Ok you know what your 
doing; type "download" in the search bar to view download settings; 
toggle the setting "browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel" to 
false and "browser.download.panel.shown" to true and that restores the 
old download panel dialog. I also have 
"pref.downloads.disable_button.edit_actions" set to false, but I think 
that's related to another annoying quirk the new Firefox introduced.
