There may be other ways to sign in; I have not tried. I think it is a
oAuth account, so you may be able to sign in with an existing
social-media account.

Ah, well, with Win10, the default is to sign in with a Microsoft ID
such as a Hotmail or Skype account. It is possible to work around this
but not trivial.

Mint is still a solid contender. A new version, 21, is coming soon and
should be better still.
If you format a USB key with Ventoy, you can put as many ISO files as
will fit onto a single key and pick which one to boot. It is very easy
and quick.

I saw lots of cheap ones on Amazon.in.
But with Linux, it might be desirable to take the laptop to a shop,
and try before you buy.
