First things first: Nitin, it is bad manners to top-post on mailing
lists. Put your reply *below* the text you are replying to.

You are posting from Gmail. Are you using the web interface? If so:

Hit Reply
Press Ctrl-A to select all. This expands the quoted text.
Go down, trim to the sender line and the part you wish to respond to.
Type your reply below.

Additionally, if you have not set Gmail to send only plain text, click
the vertical ellipsis (the 3 dots in a column, next to the trash can)
and pick Plain Text Mode.

That is not where to look.

The makers' website is the right place. However, I have searched
avita.com for the words "bios" and "firmware" with no luck. It looks
like the company does not publish such updates.

This is the danger of buying a cheap small-name-brand computer. A 2nd
hand Thinkpad would be a better machine, even a few years old, and
probably cheaper.

You still have not told us what exact model of laptop you have.

In some logs you posted, it says Avita, model NE14A2. Is that right?

I checked on https://www.avita.com/hk/product/essential/support

There are *14* different models with that model number. Without more
info I can go no further.

You *must* specify this information and give all you can! Asking
questions without giving full information and context is also very
rude.

If this is right, this is a known bug. See here:

Sign up for Ubuntu One and mark this bug as affecting you too.

A new kernel is unlikely to help you. A different distribution *might*.

But as others have told you, try Windows first.

What, you did not write your password down?!

What version of Windows? Was it activated?

If the machine is this:

https://www.amazon.in/AVITA-Essential-NE14A2INC433-CR-Integrated-Graphics/dp/B08DDYYZ3G

It looks like a very cheap, low end model.

I agree.

Same here.

Debian is worse for drivers than Ubuntu. There is almost no chance it will help.

You could try Linux Mint, which includes some drivers and codecs that
Ubuntu does not.

Failing that, maybe Manjaro or Linux Lite.

Or, given that the machine is low-spec for Windows 10, maybe try
Windows XP. There is a working copy here:

https://archive.org/details/TinyXPRev11MultiInclTinyBIIAndMicroXP086EXPerience2010

But XP is very old and not safe to use online now. It would test if
the audio worked though.

Another option is a cheap USB sound card; this will cost only Rup 200-250.

Or USB headphones.
