Yesterday I upgraded from Ubuntu 21.10 (x86_64) to Ubuntu 22.04 (x86_64)
and the upgrade went smoothly, using "Software Updater". This was on a
lenovo ThinkPad T500

Previously I installed 22.04 on an oldish ThinkPad (x201) and it crashed in
the installer. I eventually used the "safe graphics" option at the
installer's GRUB menu and it started working fine.
