I would hope that they were trying to fix some of the long-standing and 
obvious problems that absolutely no-one at any HQ would even rate. I 
gave up reporting installer bugs a long time ago, having been burned by 
both the Ubuntu and Mint installers, and a bunch of other distros.

Having an attractive and user-friendly installer is really important.
Having one that works is even more important. The improvement in recent 
years seems to have been significant, so I'm going to try 22.04 this week.
