Should that be fsck, rather than fdisk?

If fdisk, then, what syntax and stepwise procedure?

I have copied as much as possible, of the existing /home partition, to
an external drive, and, have downloaded a copy of the 21.10 iso, to
write to a thumb drive, to use to boot.
