Well, Thunderbird appears to maybe still be working - it seems to allow

And, now, the system is "up in the air" no idea as to whether it is safe 
to walk away from it, or put it to sleep (it is a "laptop" - "putting it 
to sleep" = (for me) locking the screen and closing the lid, or, whether 
it will keep operating.
