Hi,
I need to correct my claim. The cheap Toshiba P300 drives HDWD1*0UZSVA
I'm using are CMR drives. I thought those drives are SMR drives and
hoped to get faster backup drives by migrating to more expensive CMR
drives. So since today it's a shattered dream. I need to take a look
at other hardware specs and more likely to reconsider my backup
strategy, to backup everything to compressed tar archives instead of
syncing. Recently I already noticed that USB3, what I'm using, isn't
really slower than eSATA what I can use, too, with my computer and
external drives.
So at least the claim that all inexpensive drives are SMR drives is
incorrect. CMR drives can be inexpensive, too, at least at sizes <, =
and a little bit > 2 TiB.
Regards,
Ralf
