Hi,
I can't comment on yesterday, but at least today, Firefox is up-to-date,
"firefox (96.0+build2-0ubuntu0.21.04.1)"
I'm not using Firefox with Ubuntu that often. On Arch Linux I'm using
Firefox each day and I didn't experience an issue that required to clear
it's cache (let alone to fix the owner of a directory or file), after
any of the latest updates.
[rocketmouse at archlinux ~]$ grep firefox /var/log/pacman.log | tail -4

However, a common issue when updating Firefox are add-ons and themes. I
always experience little hiccups, for example unexpected colours. I
wouldn't be surprised, if an add-on or theme might be the culprit on
your machine.
