firefox cannot connect to any website, other browsers can?

Hello all,

I am running Firefox 95.01. on an Ubuntu 21.04 64-bit box. All of a
sudden, for no visible reason, Firefox stopped connecting to any
website, including some that are surely online, e.g. cnn.com, google,
etc..

It is the browser, because on the same box, in the same moment, I can
connect to the same websites with Tor, w3m, or use email, ssh and
anything else that uses an internet connection. So, what could it be?
