There is an browser called Chromium that is part of the Ubuntu
repository, this is sort of "Google Chrome" check difference here
https://www.linuxandubuntu.com/home/google-chrome-vs-chromium
I see no advantage in using Chrome.
If you are using Symatic as a package manager go to Packages, lock
version, and it wont be on the up date list. If you have downloaded from
some other source it may act like LibreOffice and notify when an update
is available. It is your option if you want to.
Over the last year I have been moving away from Google as much as
possible and that ain't easy.
About a year ago when Covid 19 tracking was the big rage. I had tracking
set on my 'Not so Smartphone'. I went into one of those big box stores
which I haven't bought anything at for about a year to look, not buy,
less than 24 hours later I get an email from that store thanking me for
the visit. !!! ??? Just coincidence?
Since then I have done a factory reset on all the phones and tablets in
the household, installed Fdroid and Aurora Store and have not logged
in with a Google account.
