It sends lots of telemetry. So does Windows.

I don't care. I pay for my Google account, because it delivers stuff I
want and this way I get some comeback.

I am not a GNU puritan; I want my computer to work, to do what I need,
with the minimum of fuss. That's why I run Ubuntu on my laptops rather
than Debian or Fedora, which make me do more work.

Chrome works well for web2 stuff. I use Waterfox for general browsing.

Chromium is more work and doesn't work as well, so I don't bother.

But if Chromium does all you need, by all means use it. Or Iron or
Ungoogled Chromium or something.

Just not Brave, 'cos those guys are dodgy. They rewrite referrer
links, they deal in cryptocurrencies, and other shady things. Say no
to Brave.
