Hmmm... actually, I am hoping for something that'll give me a way to search
a directory tree as if it had been traversed by Google's indexers
(obviously not Google) that I can then use simply to enter phrases to
search on later. It would have to update its indexes when the contents of
any file in the directory tree were updated, and it could be great if it
also fully indexed archives within the directory tree. Although I could get
used to becoming a regular Emacs user, I'd rather hope there'd be a
solution that was more accessible straight from the Ubuntu desktop. :)
