I rebuilt an Ubuntu server some time ago and then I used a fash drive to boot
from, but it was not easily done on the new Lenovo desktop I had bought...
This machine OTOH is a 10 year old HP Elitebook Workstation 8560w and I interact
with it mostly via ssh (PuTTY) or VNC from my Windows 10 box.
I need to use the laptop monitor to boot from the USB flash (I guess that there
will be a selection done to use the USB). But I have not yet tried it on this
laptop. When I instlled Ubuntu on it I used the DVD drive, which is now removed.
I will try it tomorrow using a GParted USB drive (with just GParted on) and see
how it goes. The system has scheduled jobs lasting for about 9 hours now, which
I don't want to interrupt.
