*Normally* autoremove would be enough most of the time.  Autoremove leaves 
behind 1-2 older kernels, so if you need a partitularly "lean" /boot directory 
(FS), then manually purging the 1-2 kernels left by autoremove might be 
needed.  The op has a *small* /boot FS, so the extra purge(s) will trim things 
even more than autoremove and make sure there is plenty of free space.
