Photo exchange Samsung A32 with Xubuntu

Does anyone know how to do this?

Our next door neighbor took some terrific pictures at my wedding this
past Saturday - 101 of them. She has a Samsung A32 with minimal apps
installed. She is also a tech-challenged elderly dear heart who knows
next to nothing about how to do much besides text and make calls.

I tried a number of different possibilities and none of them worked. I
couldn't even get a data-file connection using my USB-C charge/data
cable - the phone did not recognize the cable as legit and would not
talk to the computer at all.

I've had a Samsng in the past and I know they're a really picky bunch
to work with.

Any pointers would be most welcome.
